When the Internet was “coming of age”, those who wished to have an Internet presence worried about the costs and effort it took to set up a website. Whether for enjoyment or profit, to have a listing on the Net, having a website was the only option in those days. Amateur ones were less costly, but were not all that appealing.

The blog was conceived to be, in effect, a “website for the poor man” whereby you could leave your footprints on the World Wide Web without having to create a website. From one mans blog to the next the blog spot became a means for people to socialize on the Internet. Cost presented no barrier, although it was kind of drab; but change was in the air.

In a very short time the blog spot could boast interesting things that were previously only seen on websites. It wasn’t long before people could set up personal blogs that presented their opinions, their social life, information, warnings about scams, and even sold stuff. It was easier to set up a blog to share information than a website – and it wasn’t long before this promoted an explosion of blogging on every topic you can think of.

Anyone can start blogging. Including you – even given very little knowledge regarding the Internet. You can begin doing it as a hobby.

Start out by leaving comments on blogs that appeal to you. This is a good way to “get your feet wet” and learn a few things about blogging. When you have built some confidence, start your own blog and I assure you that you will have all the fun in the world through it. You can also earn money if you find the idea of interest.

If you hope to achieve success it’s important to have a passion for the topic of your blog. Before you launch, take a while to decide on a subject for which you have a passion. One man’s hobby for example, can make a wonderful subject for blogging for fun.

You can initially talk about some personal experiences. As you progress, you can branch out into news items, forge some friendships, and various other kinds of content through your blog spot. There are many people out there who would love to forge friendships with other people who pursue similar interest It’s just as educational as it is fun.

Once you feel ready, you can begin earning some income by monetizing your blog. At this point you will have a few fans who will promote your network further.

The easiest means is to install Google Adsense or affiliate products on your blog, and this will automate cash earnings. If you want to put in a little more effort you could start selling e-information products through your blog. The blog spot that you set up for pleasure could wind up earning some extra cash for you at day’s end.
